“Pasture Raised, Free Range: Cultivating Character on First Fruits Farm”

Hey there, fellow farm family!

As I sit down to write this blog post, surrounded by the sights and sounds of our bustling farm, I can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the journey we're on together. Our farm, First Fruits Farm, isn't just a place where we grow crops and raise animals—it's a living, breathing testament to the values we hold dear and the legacy we're building for our children.

You see, when my wife Tay and I made the decision to answer God’s calling to leave behind our lucrative careers and embark on this adventure of farming, we knew it would be a radical departure from the fame and fortune our previous lifestyle afforded. But what we didn't fully anticipate was just how profoundly it would shape not only our lives but the lives of our eight incredible children.

In the hustle and bustle of everyday life on the farm, our children are experiencing something truly special: they're being raised with the freedoms of our pasture-raised, free-range livestock, allowed to roam and explore the vast expanse of nature that surrounds them.  From feeding the chickens to harvesting vegetables from the garden, they're learning the value of hard work, responsibility, and discipline in a way that no classroom or textbook could ever teach them.

But perhaps the most beautiful aspect of this lifestyle is the quality of character that is being nurtured in their hearts with each passing day.  As they witness the miracle of life unfold before their eyes—the birth of a newborn calf, the first sprout of a seedling—they're learning empathy, compassion, and stewardship for the world around them. And as they work side by side with us, shoulder to shoulder, they're discovering the true meaning of family, love, and unity.

Sure, there are challenges along the way—early mornings, late nights, and the occasional scrape or bruise—but the rewards far outweigh the sacrifices. Because here on First Fruits Farm, we're not just growing crops, we're growing character. And as I look into the bright eyes of our children, I know that the seeds we're planting today will blossom into something truly extraordinary tomorrow.

So as we continue to tend to our fields and nurture our family, let's remember to cherish every moment, knowing that we're not just raising children—we're raising leaders, dreamers, and world-changers.

In faith,
